WHY I HAVE DECIDED TO RUN

I can no longer sit back and watch what is going on in our city. We need a council table that works together for the whole city. Hamilton is amazing with so much potential, but the lack of action is costing us money.

I am running for change.

HOW I WILL EMBRACE AND CHAMPION DIVERSITY AS

WARD 6 COUNCILLOR

All levels of government represent all citizens, which needs to be reflected in policy. I will work to apply a lens of inclusion, and diversity to every decision at council table. I welcome conversations to understand the diversity and inclusion goals of our community, and action those goals.

HOW I WILL DEAL WITH THE HOUSING CRISIS

Maintaining urban boundaries is important and what Hamiltonians want, but we need more housing. Examination of our commercial spaces, vacant lots, and how we can better implement denser residential and mixed-use spaces needs to happen now. I will work with council table and other levels of government to achieve this.

HOW I WILL ADDRESS THE ISSUE OF UNSAFE STREETS

First, we need to understand why we are seeing such an increase in accidents and fatalities. Current council has one agenda: turn one-way streets into two-way streets, without knowing if that would cause more frustration and more accidents. We need to understand the root of the problem first.

HOW I WILL ADDRESS HAMILTON'S RISING PROPERTY TAXES

Hamiltonians pay some of the highest tax rates in the country, and they are going up. We need commercial growth in this city, to help offset those tax rates,  it is well known Hamilton is closed for business, why? Our Councillors are not able or not willing to work together for the benefit of the whole city, which needs to change. I will work for this city, and with other councillors for commercial growth, good high-paying jobs, and let companies know, Hamilton is open for business.

WHY I THINK TERM LIMITS ARE IMPORTANT

Hamiltonians will know the people stepping up to run, are there for the right reasons, they are there to make a difference, not a paycheck.
We have seen Councillors at city hall for years, the longest is 33 years, the problem with this is they are not working for the betterment of Hamilton, and it shows.

WHAT IS THAT SMELL AT CHEDOKE CREEK

It's your bathroom being dumped in about 100 times a year.

We all know about the coverup of the 24 billion litres of raw sewage that was pouring into Chedoke Creek for four years, and that our Councillors voted to keep it from us, but some may not know every time there is a heavy storm, they open the gates for more raw sewage to enter our waterways. What is going to happen to our water after 10 years, or 20 years, we are destroying our water? Our sewer and sanitary lines need to be separated, if we have to open the gates for storm-water runoff that's not a problem. How do we do this, how do we pay for this? We need to implement Storm-water rates, there are malls, parking lots, and plazas where when it rains the water is not absorbed into the ground, it goes into the sewer system and is treated, who is paying for that treatment? We need to charge these rates and bring in those dollars to work towards separating those lines.

HOW I PLAN TO ACHIEVE OUR PRIORITIES

Hard work and perseverance. I will work with other councillors, and other levels of government, to make sure the needs of this great city are met. I will ensure I have a complete understanding of the heart of every issue, with open communication, and develop a resolution that benefits Hamiltonians.
